So I have a pretty severe deviated septum, enlarged turbinates (which I got basically burnt/shrunk down once already and apparently we really shouldnāt do that using that method lol), and bilateral collapse of my nasal cavities.
I do have mild sleep apnea and my doc said itās possible with continued weight loss and helping fix my air way where possible, it could go away. He said my nasal passages collapse anytime I breathe in bc - you guessed it - the cartilage there is weak.
The surgery heād do wouldāve correct my septum, shrink my turbinates using the latest (non cauterizing lol) technique, and put something in where the weak cartilage is. Iām brain fogging hard and forget what exactly he said would be inserted in my nostrils lmao. He is an EDS aware ENT though, and said heās never had, nor heard of anyone else having any issues from this surgery and that ultimately, the scar tissue that forms around the object implanted in my nostrils will further help to ensure my nasal cavities donāt collapse when I inhale.
That being said, jus curious if anyone had had this sort of thing done and had bad results? I personally had 6 knee surgeries, a tonsillectomy (at 27 šā ļø), a cyst removed, an endo/colonoscopy, and my tubes removed and I healed fine from each. The cyst I had removed was on my butt crack and unfortunately that scar did keloid up but I think it was probably the placement bc I normally donāt keloid. Otherwise Iāve healed up fine.
Also curious if this would really improve things for me in a noticeable manner, and if there are any long term risks.
TIA!
