So it's been well over a year since I read the original study claiming it could be useful for Ehlers Danlos patients, but I finally worked up the balls to test Levodopa on myself. I took one Cardidopa-Levodopa 10-100 tab around midday. It took about an hour to kick in, but I felt it when it happened. Subsequently there was a 3-4 mellow high where I felt no pain and had no anxieties. I could still feel my joint laxity and my left-side muscles in spasm, but generally feeling relaxed helps those things, and I felt relaxed for the duration of the effects. It was comparable to alcohol or candy in that I did feel a very mild disorientation / dizziness / delayed reaction time during the hours I felt relief, but was not so impaired that I couldn't work or make decisions if absolutely necessary. I don't think it's a drug I could use to Become Normal, or to make myself suitable to say, a 9-5 job. If I was absolutely forced to have such a thing, however, it might be useful to have a bottle.
Obviously it is possible this was a placebo effect, as well. Though I didn't have expectations that I'd feel better after taking it.
Most people who take Levodopa seem to do so daily. I think I would prefer to use as needed, but I am also curious to experiment with daily use to see if I develop a tolerance, or if the effects multiply over time.
Anybody else have experience with this one?
