At what price point am I paying simply for cosmetics?

Being new to the hobby and lurking the last couple weeks I’m curious about opinions on when the price to performance value curve starts to take a steep dip.
Do you feel like there’s a general price point where if you spend more you’re getting roughly the same knife performance wise but more polished, or “prettier”?
I’m really value minded and as pretty as some of these knives are I’m trying not to get too drunk on the new hobby coolaid this time.. vinyl collecting of 2021 about saw me divorced 😭
