Thoughts on how to proceed with weighted pull up progression
Post Body

I figured I'd come to reddit and ask this because a google search provided way too many different results.

I've been doing a few sets of pull ups at the start of every workout. It's enough sets to do 30 reps total, so it'll look like 10, 8, 6, 6 with minimal rest in between. Today I warmed up with 10 body weight reps and then did 4 sets for 5 reps at 25 pounds, then dropped to 10 pounds for 10 reps, then about 8 for bodyweight. It's more than I thought I'd do but granted I gave myself for rest time.

For progression, should I: 1) stick with a set scheme where I'll stay doing up to 30 reps total, as many reps per set, but increase weight minimally, like an extra 10 pounds every other week? Or 2) do a 5x5 system at a higher weight like I did today?

For context I'm 6'3, 215 pounds and do mostly compounds and bodyweight assistance exercises like dips when I'm at the gym. I don't really branch too far out in either direction
