Hi everyone!
I recently started working out again (been on and off for years) and noticed that my left quad is bigger than my right, but my right quad is significantly stronger. For example, when doing Bulgarian split squats with a 10 lbs dumbell, my right side can easily do 7 without much effort, but my left side struggles to get to 5. I tried looking online (this community and Google) how to even it out, but I haven't found anything that fits my situation where the bigger muscle is weaker.
So the question: how should I train so that my left side gets stronger but not much bigger, but have my right side bulk up to the same size as the left but not get too much stronger? I've been doing Bulgarian split squats to try to work them separately but not sure how many reps/weights I should do and I'm open to any other exercises!
For some other info: - I'm right handed so my right side is my dominate side - Generally is the case that my left side muscles are bigger but weaker than my right side but want to focus on my quads for right now - on mobile, so sorry for any mistakes.
Thanks for any advice!
I faced a similar issue! Try incorporating unilateral exercises like lunges and single-leg squats to target each side separately
Keep adjusting weights and reps until you find a balance that works for you
Good luck!
