How to work up to a single pull-up?
Post Body

To give some context, I recently finished the BWF primer and started on the BWSF routine. Before this I was basically a newbie having done no real weight training other than my normal lifestyle activities. I’m a mid 30’s male, with a slightly larger frame (5’9”, ~200 lbs).

The only part of the BWSF routine I struggle with is the pull-up. I cannot do a single one. However, I can do full sets (3x8) of inverted rows which I thought was a similar motion. It’s a bit strange to me. Are there vastly different muscle groups at work here? Does this imply I am weak in one area? What sort of exercises can I replace to work up to it?

Edit: I know in the pull-up description Nick mentions to just do the negative motion but I find that awkward to get into.
