Hey all,
So I'm a long-term YouTube led primary follower because sometimes you just don't have the fortitude...and anyway I just wanted to share a thought I had this morning during practice about speed and intensity. I've noticed that some led classes, depending on the teacher, can be very slow and meditative but others can be very fast and intense, in particular David Swenson's led primary and this John Scott demo, and I thought, during an Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana so fast that I couldn't get into the left side:
What if part of the reason the series is led so fast, apart from creating heat and not letting the practice become laborious, is to prevent you from spending all that extra time forcing yourself into postures you aren't ready for?
I've noticed I spend a whole lot more time than I probably "should" in trouble postures trying to "get" them, and today for the first time, I had to resign to the fact that I couldn't get all the way into a posture and that I had to move on. That was oddly liberating.
What are you guys' thoughts on or experiences with this?
