Background (skip to the next section if you don't care)
I'm actually new to growing anything. Most I've done is kept a garden in the back yard (which worked out okay, got a really good harvest of tomatoes, nightshades, cucumbers, and squash). The garden was relatively low effort after planting - basically just kept it watered.
But I'm interested in Aquaponics for the possibility of being able to do it indoors. I live in tornado ally, and in outdoor gardening I've had issues with my plants getting flooded out due to the unpredictable storms that can blow through. I also like the cyclical system of aquaponics that cleans the water for the fish which add nutrients to the water for the plants, it seems better than needing to buy nutrients all of the time for a hydroponics system.
Question:
What are the best resources for getting started on building my first indoor Aquaponics system? The quality of information online seems really variable, so I thought it would be a good idea to poll the community on this one. I'm most interested in growing kale as a first crop, and a breed-able, consumable fish like tilapia as the first fish. I have plenty of space in my house, so the setup size can be pretty flexible. I'm not at all strapped for cash, either, so I can also be pretty flexible on spending.
