This was from our first couples therapy session. It was a mindfuck for a handful of reasons (see post history), but I wanted to document one subtle one here to see if anyone has had a similar experience.
Since this was the intro session, my wife and I were basically giving a high level summary of what brought us into the therapists care. There is a litany of issues that we went over. At the end of it, my wife added: “oh, and he also told me that he has been unhappy in the relationship for years.” It’s true. I did tell her that. What’s interesting is the way she communicated that to the therapist. It was as if she was somehow accusing me of something. Like somehow me being unhappy was…my fault? Is this a thing?
