I didn't have time to make screenshots of the tables. If you're on Alien Blue or whatever, I recommend you view this report in your device's browser. Here is the link.
8/01 - 08/07
The Rangers were swept in Cleveland but then went to Chicago where they won two out of three from the White Sox.
The following table contains the AL West teams' records for this week and how many games they made up or lost against the leader, Oakland.
Tm | W | L | Games Gained |
---|---|---|---|
Oakland | 4 | 3 | - |
LA Angels | 3 | 4 | -1.0 |
Seattle | 4 | 2 | 0.5 |
Houston | 3 | 3 | -0.5 |
Texas | 2 | 4 | -1.5 |
Now that Texas is without a doubt not in the playoff race and is, in fact, one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball, let us look at the reverse standings. This is obviously pretty important. The worse the Rangers are, the better draft position they'll have. Also they will be allowed to spend more on draft picks and foreign players.

The offense was again very quiet this week except for that dismantling of the White Sox on Wednesday night. The pitching kept things reasonably quiet except for the blowout suffered at the hands of the Indians last Friday. If you take away the extremes:

The hitting was a lot better overall this week, mainly due to that one game against the White Sox. The Pitching numbers weren a little better last week, but as said before they were also affected by a blow out. Small samples. The Rangers posted 1.4 team fWAR last week compared to 1.1 this week.

Odor and Martin continue to struggle. Rios had a good week last week but that did not continue. Shin Soo Choo was about the same. Jim Adduci was productive last week but not this week. Other than that, everyone put up solid numbers. Elvis was the best full time player. Rosales, Chirinos, and even Robinson were productive in part time roles. Beltre was mediocre for Beltre, and Arencibia was good again.
Choo continues to hit line drives but he's striking out a whole lot. Two weeks in a row he's done that. I still wish they'd put him on the DL.
The rest of this report will be submitted without commentary as I have run out of time.
