Post Body

Working in music retail we get a decent amount of spouses who don't understand/are tired of their SO's music hobby. In many of those cases, it's the wife being wary of the husband, mainly because a lot of these guys don't tell their wives about the $3500 Gibson Les Paul they just put on monthly payments, so the wariness isn't misplaced.

I helped a woman who was picking up an order her husband had placed. It wasn't very big, but it seemed important; my guess was that she was just sent to pick it up for whatever reason.

ESG: Can I help you, miss?

W: [sigh] i'm here to pick up an order.

I pull up the info (we usually do it by phone number). When a clearly male name shows up, I ask if the name is familiar to her.

ESG: Oh, this is under [name]?

W: [slightly exasperated; another sigh eye roll] last I checked, that was my husband...

In the back of my head I think "okay... that was kind of odd, but whatever." I go get the item - a microphone accessory - and come back out to give it to her. She promptly snatches it from my hand, mutters a barely audible "thank you" and begins to walk off hastily. I still had to close the order in the system and give her the receipt, but she was halfway to the door.

ESG: Excuse me, doyouwantyourreceipt.....?

I'm just glad I didn't have to take any payment from her, as the item was paid for already.
