I'm back! I haven't posted here in a while, mainly because I moved out and changed stores. Now I'm at a busier [music store] & the clientele is... different.
Today I was helping a gentleman who needed some guitar effects. I proceed to get him what he needs, at which point he asks me how to best arrange his setup. As he finishes, a customer cuts in. "Well I do this...." he proceeded to hijack the conversation and advise the customer on what he needs. Same stuff I would have said, but still. Being the polite guy i am, i proceed to let this gear head "educate the customer". Customer leaves for a minute, and then asks me another question when he comes back, prefacing the question with "now who do I ask about guitars: you, or the other gentleman?" With the most flat tone I could muster without sounding rude, I quickly say "oh, he doesn't work here."
This is but one of the many things I have to deal with in music retail.
