The Amazon and other tropical forests are, with ocean phytoplankton ~ the lungs of our world.
They absorb CO₂ and release O₂, yet we humans are cutting our way through them, as if they're in infinite supply.
We also rely on these forests' respirations to pump essential water into the atmosphere - to fall as necessary rain elsewhere in the world.
Then, these forests play host to myriad plants, animals & fungi which could have medicinal uses yet undiscovered - maybe even cures for cancer!
