SLAP repair with bicep tenodesis and subacromial decompression
Post Body

Hello, I'm a 29 year old male who just recently had a shoulder arthroscopy on January 10th due to lingering shoulder impingement issues from weightlifting. Surgeon ended up performing a bicep tenodesis, with a subacromial decompression and some debridement around the labrum. I am a little over 2 weeks post op with pretty much no pain, while not really needing to wear the sling.

I just had my post op appointment with the surgeon yesterday and he told me I should have full range of motion back in 3-4 more weeks. I then asked him when I could expect to return to weightlifting, and much to my surprise he said he only expects it to be another couple of months until I can get back to lifting.

For anyone who has had a similar procedure I have two questions:

  1. Did you have a similar timeframe for getting back full ROM and getting back in the gym?
  2. What shoulder ROM exercises/stretches can I begin to do at home while waiting for my first PT appointment (could be another couple weeks)?
