Are there any downsides to OMAD?
Post Body

Hello all! I wanted to ask people who have personally been on or are currently partaking in the OMAD way. I know this isn't a place for medical advice or anything, but to give some context to my question, I will start with why I am considering going all in on OMAD.

  1. I have chronic nausea
  2. I feel pain every time I eat
  3. I can become full very easily and very quickly
  4. I have Rumination Syndrome

I have already begun making a pros list, but if I could get a pro/con list from specific individuals I think it may be enough for me to seriously weigh my options.

Possible Pros:

  1. Save money! (Food expenses are high as heck nowadays)
  2. Lose weight! (I am already down 50 pounds, but I have 50 more to go)
  3. Re-establish a healthy relationship with food!
  4. Less time spent thinking about/worrying about food!
  5. Less pain!

Possible Cons:

  1. Judgement from medical professionals/peers (not a huge thing for me but possible)
  2. I have type 1 diabetes, so I will still need to "microbolus" for times I am "fasting"
  3. Might not be able to consume enough calories to sustain myself over time
  4. I could see myself indulging in more unhealthy foods since its "just one a day"
  5. I play D&D on Sundays and its SO HARD not to snack on all day sessions (I would just miss doing this I think is why its listed)

In addition, I see people posting their caloric intake with their meals, is that just for reference? For calorie tracking? Are you supposed to track the caloric intake every day?

What do you all think? I know my medical conditions and this meal plan would need to be discussed with my specialists, but I think live feedback from active participants would be beneficial for me. Thank you so much in advance for your time!
