OMAD, the lifestyle
Post Body

I wanted to make this post because I feel like a lot of people here are focused on the wrong thing. I have been eating one meal a day for about 5 years now. My weight has stayed relatively the same, however I was at a healthy weight when I started.

The majority of posts are day 5, day 10, day 30. It is great to see people losing weight and understand many people do it for that reason but take my advice as a day 1,825 OMAD'er: Stop counting days. OMAD is a lifestyle, losing weight is a side effect.

The first few days may be hard but after that you shouldn't feel like you are suffering. You should eat until you are completely full and satisfied, to the point where you wouldn't want to eat for another 24 hours.

I do not suffer, I am not starving throughout the day. In the 4-6 hours before my meal actually I feel more focused. Usually I eat early in the afternoon for about 30-40 minutes and that's that.

When starting OMAD you will probably lose weight because you are physically restricted by how much food can get in your stomach but eventually you will get to a natural lean body weight.

Of course, you can speed this process up by eating healthy, but what makes this a lifestyle is the fact that you don't have to eat healthy. You can eat whatever you want. Eventually your metabolism will learn to break down fat which is really the main weight loss driver and what gives people the sense of clarity/focus. For some people this can take longer to happen than others, but once it does happen, you will be well on your way to it being a lifestyle and you won't care how many days you've been doing it for.
