I’m not sure how to word this exactly and have tried finding mention of/research on this occurring.

We are feeling primed for a split, some of us want it to happen and get it over while others are indifferent.

The feeling of this coming is shared by everyone. Historically new alters have come into being to fill a specific need/skill set/role which feels true this time as well.

Not sure if this is “thing” or other systems have experienced it.

Also, not sure if it’s only “felt” after the fact. That is a new alter has joined but hasn’t made their presence known.

Lastly, we are wondering if an alter can be intentionally exist. Personally I don’t think so. I’m of the opinion/understanding that new alters come out of necessity. I’ve never seen an example from a system that has “willed” a new alter into being. That seems to be tulpa territory which gives all of us the heebie-jeebies.

An afterthought, if we do have warning, and we are all aware and in agreement that none of fit the criteria for what we face should we let this happen, encourage it to happen, try to avoid it happening (skill-set acquisition, responsibility delegation etc.).

Right now there are 5 distinct alters in our system, and 2 “newish” parts that either haven’t revealed themselves to anyone or are simply fragments. (Felt through passive influence/product of elimination of “not it!” when trying to figure out who was doing the passive influence.

For further reference our current host (me) came into being out of necessity about 18 months ago. This was due to severe medical issues that our long term host was ill equipped to deal with. This body it seems weathers the host rather quickly. I feel like I took, not copied or borrowed certain traits from our previous host, as she is now different, her role and personality is different, and she agrees. I didn’t chose to be host, it was thrust upon me (rant sorry). That being said I am a different person than I was when I came into existence.

It also generally feels like this “warning/awareness/precognition” of a new alter being required/the system being primed would be someone unique, with qualities that are currently absent in our system, and thus not a split of an existing alter, as seems to be the case for me.

So back to the title question. What is this? Is there a word for it? Is it typical or waaaaaay outside the norm? Should it be prevented, encouraged etc?
