Quitting weed has changed our switches
Post Body

So we've decided to quit weed and alcohol. We don't drink much but can tell from when we have that it can easily become a problem so we're trying to nip it in the bud. But weed we've been smoking for I'm guessing about 5-6 years now.

We became aware of the system about 2 years ago and it's always been in the back of our head like, is it just the weed? It's a dissociative drug so there's always that doubt. But we've decided to quit that too for reasons.

My frustration is that because it's a dissociative, it lets us switch super easy. I'm talking a lot of less than a minute switches with rapid switching being the most common. Like, we feel the switch coming and before we know it, we're too far gone to not switch. No headaches or sleepiness or anything either.

Now that we haven't had any weed for a couple days, the switches are noticeably more difficult. It feels like we're getting 1/4 of the switch feeling but it won't progress further so we don't switch. But it builds up so we get a headache. We've fast switched once but it felt like, grueling almost.

And now switches make us super tired. We took a really long nap today when we had trouble switching. We just couldn't stay awake and then woke up hours later switched. And then got super sleepy again when another switch came on but it didn't end up happening.

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this change? We haven't experienced this in who knows how long (super distant from memories rn cuz panic is not fun) and I'm not really sure we know how to deal with this other than just getting through it.

Any advice is appreciated :)

Update: it's been almost a week and my switches are back to normal! Super fast, no headaches unless it's a lot of switches in rapid succession, we're only sleepy during the switch, not after, although we tend to yawn a lot during them. The past couple days have been like that so I think we're good to go.

We still have trouble differentiating between us but we're thinking of trying a bracket idea we saw in an r/DID post.

Unrelated to the system, we had our first dream in a long time this morning! We have very visual, story/movie like dreams, and we didn't realize how much we missed them. We knew weed suppresses dreams but honestly I didn't expect them to come back so quickly. So that's cool!

We're feeling really good about sobriety! I'm really glad we decided to do this.
