Any advice on how to use mindfulness for breaking bad habits?

I have used mindfulness to help mend my own behaviours in the past, but sometimes certain activities have a strange mix of positive and negative emotions involved. Also being really immersed makes it hard to be mindful (like say you're binging movies, after a while it gets hard to stay mindful because you're so deeply invested and involved with the movie).
Any advice on mindfulness techniques I could use, and how to be more aware?
