One thing I discovered today is that there are certain activities which are really hard to be mindful about.
It's important to understand this, because the idea behind mindfulness is to be mindful of every single moment, yet it's simply not practical to be mindful of absolutely everything.
For example, take typing. Typing is such a fast (and often automatic) activity that it's very difficult to be mindful of. Usually a strategy to overcome this is to slow yourself down, but at that point, typing becomes impractical and then simply becomes ineffective.
Brushing your teeth on the other hand, is much easier to be mindful of. Not only can you slow yourself down without impacting your brushing, but you also have the cue of looking at yourself in the mirror, as well as the sensation of the brush against your teeth etc.
One way I approach activities like typing, is that I remind myself that typing is difficult to be mindful, and I keep that at the back of my head, as a form of mindfulness.
Most importantly however, the reason why it's important to understand which activities are difficult to be mindful about, is so you can know which activities to avoid when you're not quite right.
For example, if you're feeling really stressed or unfocused, then typing is probably the last thing that you should be doing, because it will simply take you further away from your ideal state of being/
So yeah, play around and see what activities you struggle to be mindful with.
For me it's primarily typing, along with working (involves a lot of typing). Feel free to list the things you struggle with!
