I'm going to politely disagree

Attended an event recently and my partner and I were in a (smallish) room with another couple and many people were asking for permission to watch.
I love consent, permission and autonomy is sexy. But when you're really into the swing (heh) of things and every 5 minutes you're interrupted and pulled out of the headspace, personally I felt like it disrupted our play.
So I'm going to politely disagree with the concept of asking permission to watch.
Maybe it's because I'm from the kink scene where interrupting a scene is considered very rude (and sometimes dangerous).
Would be interested to know what others think as I wouldn't want to make anyone uncomfortable by not asking.
