My husband (52) and myself F(39) are very new to this scene. We’ve had a couple of fun times with single guys but not with any other couples. Although we’ve chatted to people on different sites, a combination of work, kids and distance had so far meant no actual meet ups! Well, finally, we were able to make it to Between Friends Wine Bar on Saturday 28 October for their Halloween night! We met a lovely couple we’d been talking to online beforehand and that helped calm our nerves. I was dressed as a sexy witch and my husband was dressed as a Vampire.

The owner Matt was very welcoming and we felt right at home the minute we walked into the place. Everyone was friendly, staff and patrons included. The place had a great vibe, the mood was perfect and we loved the sexy and scary costumes! There was no pressure or expectation to go upstairs to play but we did end up doing just that with the other couple we had met already. We had a great night full of laughter and passion and can’t wait to go back there again as soon as we can! Our advice to anyone thinking about going to BFWB is: 1) If possible, meet up beforehand with someone who is going as well. It just makes it so much easier and less awkward. 2) Don’t drink too much! Have one or two beforehand to calm the nerves but you’ll enjoy yourself more by not getting too drunk! 3) Don’t have any expectations. We had the attitude that we’ll just go and talk to people and have a good time! If we end up playing upstairs then bonus, but you don’t have to if it doesn’t click. And finally 4) Get dressed up if it’s a theme night! It just breaks down barriers and is a great way to strike up conversations. The few couples that weren’t in costume when we went looked uncomfortable. Even making a little effort helps!
