Goooood afternoon everybody! Sharing another story with you all - our first visit to Wet on Wellington.

For those who don't know Wet on Wellington is a gay sauna that only hosts a hetero night every third Monday of the month, making it a challenge to attend! After a year of missed opportunities and unaligned schedules, u/LushMartini and I were finally able to see what WoW was all about.

We arrived in Collingwood and were shown through to the club after waiting to be admitted. We were unsure what to wear but discovered it almost didn't matter - everyone was wearing towels (or no towel) since you're in and out of the water so often. The first thing we noticed was the powerful chlorine smell

(no one wants to get pregnant from swimming in the pool, amirite)

which really did reinforce the pool party vibe! And it is indeed an 'upper' party vibe - bright colours, loud music, flashy decor. If would describe Between Friends as elegant and Monkey Club as exclusive, then WoW would be fun.

We explored downstairs, and found the following:

• There's a paltry seated area & bar as you walk in - only four tables big, with uncomfortable chairs. We suspect it's designed to encourage you deeper into the club (r/mildconspiracies)
• The labyrinth of locker rooms. At peak time it is bustling!
• A relaxed movie area (which was showing Meet the Fockers?? Interesting choice) and an attached second bar.
• The pool. Full of fun floaties and beach balls, but colddd. Mid-winter is a pretty difficult time to attend a pool party - we gave it a red hot go but chattering teeth is quite unsexy. We couldn't believe that a bunch of people were playing, laughing and splashing each other; made of tougher stuff than us!
• The spa. As beautiful as it sounds, it was soooo lovely to climb in after a freezing pool dash
• The saunas.

And goodness, the saunas - the biggest drawcards of WoW. There's a dry sauna (boooring - imagine your classic YMCA sauna as people sit around turning into prunes), but the wet, steamy sauna... incredible. It's almost pitch black save for twinkling 'star lights' in the ceiling, the steam is so thick you can only see about a metre in front of you. It's everything you imagine a dark, anonymous sauna to be - you can hear people fucking but you can't see them, then suddenly you find yourself having sex next to another couple. Then 3 couples. Everyone is slick with steam & sweat - an incredibly arousing experience that's hard to replicate anywhere else.

And talking of couples, this is a good time to talk about the range of party attendees - it's a very diverse crowd. Even though it's the couples night, WoW is far more diverse in gender & sexuality than any other venue we've been to; a refreshing change! It cultivates an atmosphere of acceptance and positivity, which in turn allows you to feel safe. Similarly, WoW caters to a wide range of body types, ages, and group sizes... very different from the homogeneous nights of Between Friends or Monkey Club.

After playing (and much sauna fucking) downstairs we headed up to see the fabled 'rabbit warren' of the second floor. What an interesting experience! It's not as dark and dingy as we'd been told to expect, but it's certainly a maze of rooms, corridors, and narrow entrances. Of the ~50 or so usable 'spaces', only two of them had a bed/couch... the rest of them are all just a vinyl mat on the floor (eeek) or a gloryhole cupboard. Which of course, means the two 'cushioned' rooms are full of people... we had another couple approach us ("M&R") and ask to play, so the four of us squeezed onto a bed that already had 5 people on it. Yes, that's right folks - 9 people jostling for space over a queen size bed.

Sexual highlights of upstairs include

• Kissing u/LushMartini and telling her I love her as "M" fucked her

We're excited to go again, but we feel that we'll try arrange to meet a prospective couple there beforehand; It's not like Between Friends where you can glide between conversations and meet new people - and there are so many people & rooms that even if you did meet a couple you like, you're unlikely to ever find them again.
