TL;DR Is it possible to successfully "do" ENM if you're not very conventionally attractive?

So my husband and I have been talking about ENM and have been technically "open" for years with neither of us acting on it.

He has admitted that his biggest turn on would be if I dated and slept with other people; he doesn't have to be involved.

My meeting people through work isn't an option as becoming involved with clients would be massively unprofessional so I would probably have to use apps, which leads me to my issue.

I'm ugly. I have no illusions about this. I'm youthful and fit (42F and I work in fitness so it's my literal job to be) but my features don't conform to current beauty norms and I don't have the money or the courage to get the surgery and enhancements it would take to bring them into line. I'm not fishing for compliments, this is just reality.

If I put myself out there on an app and was met with revulsion or tumbleweeds, it would be crushing. So before I do, I wanted to reach out to people with experience in ENM to ask if it's even possible for at best average looking people to succeed at this. I feel really bad that my subpar looks are denying my husband the opportunity to explore this kink of his and have even discussed freeing him to be with someone more universally appealing who would probably find partners far more easily than I would.
