I don't know if this quite makes sense, but my girlfriend (52) and I (33) were talking about the reasons why we believe our relationship works so well despite our age difference compared to people our own ages who can't seem to find the right fit when dating people around their own age. One thing we realized is that a big part of it has been because we've approaching the physically intimate side of our connection from the same places at the right point in our lives, with me being younger and eager to explore and she being more experienced in life yet realizing there is still so much to explore.

We sort of just fell into each others' lives after meeting at the gym, and sex was never the main draw between us at the beginning, although we were definitely excited for it. In the time since, though, our physical connection has only grown stronger and we're having a ton of fun exploring new things together compared to sex lives with past partners that were healthy, but perhaps missing a sense of adventure or willingness to try new things. With her, we've gone outside the bedroom by having sex while hiking and on her back patio by her pool, both which were new to us both. We're exploring new positions we've each may have never tried and having fun with role play. We're both realizing there's been fantasies in our heads that have been locked up for too long and are now only feeling comfortable continuing to explore. Above all, we feel safe expressing these things to and with one another, and it's brought my idea of what a relationship can be to a new level.

They say that when it comes to relationships, timing is everything, and I couldn't agree more in our case.
