Thinking about the time I had a misogynistic & bigoted coworker who harassed me at my old job. (That whole thing is a story for another time/post) But I was thinking about how he always called me "sweetheart" in such a condescending way. You know the way some men do. Example, "Oh don't be so sensitive, sweetheart."
I always stood up for myself in the appropriate manner while at work but that "sweetheart" bit irks me like crazy even now. What's the male equivalent of that? Like a condescending nickname to through in with the rest of your comeback "Buddy" feels close but not quite right.
Honestly any comebacks could be fun to hear but bonus points if you can come up with the nickname part.
"Don't call me sweetheart. It is offensive to me."
If they keep it up go to HR. Tell them that you've asked for it to stop yet he keeps doing it.
One HR complaint and he'll knock it the fuck off.
That said, it also depends on your state. People in the deep south, especially those over 40 use familiar terms all the time. Sweetheart, darling, sugar booger... etc.
Maybe call him sugar booger back. Be like "Nah sugar booger, you'll take my concerns seriously."
