Live in CA. So back around 1 and a half years ago my dad was having some dental issues and needed a tooth removed. Took him and used his medi-cal for the tooth removal. When my dad went into the dental office though, they opened up a credit card in his name for dentures without me knowing and without him being aware. I only became aware when I opened up a credit card statement months later that arrived in the mail. I think they used his social security number when I filled out the initial intake form. Anyway, my dad’s debt is now in collections with midland credit management. He never paid on the credit card because my dad never actually agreed to this and the dentist refused to return the money. It’s about 5k. I already sent them a letter disputing the debt but not sure what else I should do. I feel that they took advantage of my dad as well because he’s on the older side and disabled. I handle all of his finances.
