Happened yesterday and I almost had a heart attack. Logged onto my checking account and saw it was -$4,800 because a hold was put on by the Law Offices of Michael J Adams on behalf of Portfolio Recovery on behalf of Comenity Bank. I never received anything from them, like a summons or anything certified to let me know I was being sued. I can’t get a hold of the office, and this seems to be a theme based on the Google Reviews.
Anything like this happen to anyone else? I’m not sure what to do and the timing couldn’t be any worse. 😔
***Edit Update: I spoke to the law firm that levied my account and they stated the judgement was made in July 2020, Covid summer. I don’t remember the judgement, but it’s possible but I was trying to not become homeless due to Covid so I probably blew it off.
They put me on a payment plan with first payment due in 30 days and they will be reversing the bank levy today.
