Im 18 and I’ve been researching throughout the internet about the do’s and dont’s for credit cards as I recently got accepted for one. I will also be going to college in august and I’ll accept the first year $5,500 federal loan from Fafsa(about half subsidized and other half unsubsidized). I came across a post in this subreddit recently about someone who had a huge dip in credit score after paying back student loans. How do I prevent a dip in my credit score with the federal student loans? Would using the 6 month grace period after graduating reduce my credit? Should I start repaying the loans immediately after graduating on a monthly plan and on time? I know my loan is not a lot and I thought that paying off the loan on time would increase my credit. But that post I read confused me as to how you can get your credit dropped from finishing paying off a loan. How do I ensure an increase in credit through these federal student loans?
