should i go increase cals/cheat on the weekends?

i just got back into strict deficit and in the past when i would cut/count cals i would often eat more on weekends (basically whatever tf i wanted) for the sake of like my metabolic rate, maintenance cals etc. because i saw a lady say something about it once. i wanted to know if that’s like something that’d actually be effective in keeping my maintenance cals from dropping or if it would just stall my overall progress.
