Any advice on creating hard points for suspension?

Having FINALLY been able to buy our own house my wife and I are looking to drill a few hard points (between 2 and 4) to finally do some suspension :D exciting times!

My current plan is to drill two 1/2 inch diameter eye bolts clear through a ceiling joist, then nut and washer the exposed thread. Pretty simple job and seems it should be all that is required. Probably using her outstretched wrists as the measurements.

I realise this post is probably more appropriate to a DIY thread lol, but I wondered if anyone here and done something similar and had any advice?
