Questions about Hemp Rope+water
Post Body

o/

Hey all,

Just to preface, I'm a safety nut and prefer to have all my ducks in a row before I do anything that can be considered even remotely risky, especially in regards to rope bondage.

I have a fresh Hemp set from Twisted Monk. I have a new Jacuzzi.

Now, in regards to the combination and potential of drowning, no, I will not be doing anything to constrict movement of the limbs.

My only 'safe' ties were to apply a chest harness/corset/TK, again, without any restrictions to movement of limbs in any way/shape/form. And I know that rope will preform differently when wet but my concern in swell/shrinkage/locked knots under high temperatures water.

I'm assuming that the oil on the ropes will end up all over the hot tub so I'd probably have to think about how to deal with that as well...and maybe even having to re-oil said ropes again after use? I wonder if it'd be better to use un-oiled crap ropes for this idea.

I'm also concerned about the ropes tightening/swelling too much and in wanting to preserve the life of a human being, I'd rather tie them too loose than have to cut them off in an emergency. Or just not do it at all if this whole thing seems BORK. (BORK = Balls Out Risky Kink)

The questions I have:

Anyone else have experience with something like this that can give me some niche tips?

Is hemp good for this or is there another material that will preform better at higher temperatures chemicals like chlorine? (I was thinking cheap nylon but I'd think that would soften/melt a bit and am unsure how those chemicals would mix)

Will the combination of hot water and chlorine destroy/weaken hemp sooner rather than later? (I'd like to be able to use this set of ropes again afterwards or not use them at all cause it's $$$)

Are there any additional thoughts/ideas/concerns that I'm completely forgetting?

I'm trying to cover all my bases here and make sure I know what potential risks are in this endeavor before I go ahead and do it. If the risk/reward ratio is way too high, I'll just leave this one as a fantasy.

Thanks for your time,

DS
