Hey everyone, I was chatting with / vetting a potential sub and after running a quick little online background check, I found that he had lied to me about his educational background, job title, age, and name. I typically wouldn’t run a check like this out of respect for the other person’s privacy and because I would prefer to take them by their word, but he exhibited some red flags and I couldn’t resist for safety’s sake.
When does respecting privacy put the other party at risk? In my opinion, I don’t mind anonymity in a solely online dynamic, but when it comes to meeting someone from the internet in person, I think a certain level of transparency is necessary.
Where do you think is the line and what experiences can you share?
