I recently moved to Vienna and have been looking to explore the IRL kink scene to meet people and form connections. I also ended up attending two munches (events labelled 'Social' on FetLife). Did not enjoy them at all :/.
Returning home, I learnt that even though a number of people recommend munches, not everyone enjoys them. In part that has to do with the munch-organizers and the community in the city itself. And in other part, perhaps to the individual? In my case, I definitely have an awkward time socializing with people much older than me. I'm in my mid-20s. For the two munches, of the 15ish people I saw, another newbie was in his 20s. The others seemed to be in their 40s if not older.
That has left me wondering if the munches and BDSM events in Vienna are primarily occupied by people older than 30 or 40, and if it's just better to form connections with people my age through non-kinky means. I definitely do that, but I also have a hard time mixing non-kinks with kinks unless we have a really close bond, which usually takes weeks if not months. So, I just gotta be patient.
