In my experience, the kink community seems to be more proactive at weeding out predators (often times cis male) out from their community than other adjoining communities such as polyamory, swinging, erotic/nude photography and indie pornography. I attended an orgy earlier this year organized by a small business that also organizes kink parties, social meetups and workshops (relating to kink and mental health). All men (including myself) were banned from future events following this orgy because every man broke the rule at this orgy. For me, it was unwittingly asking a 'safety person' to engage in a sexual act without being adequately informed that she was a designated 'safety person' prior. In the context of kink parties where sex is permitted, I have tacitly learnt that 'sex with strangers' isn't a norm at these parties. In order to sexually or physically engage with someone, it's expected that one socially immerse themselves for a period of time, which involves attending ALL munches and workshops. Sex doesn't happen promptly and anonymously, unlike swinger parties or orgies.
