This is something I worry a lot about getting wrong. When I was new to kink I spent a while trying to find video or at least a text play-by-play of an actual negotiation so I could get a better idea of how people do it, but didn't have much success with that. It's definitely something that becomes easier with practice though, and whilst I still worry about it, I'm a lot more confident after 5 years in the scene.

I'm curious as to how all of you go about it though. What steps are involved in your negotiations? How might a typical negotiation go for you (roughly)? What advice would you give to someone new to the scene and worried about how to get their negotiations right (as a submissive or dominant), as I was?
