Is there a difference between a Mistress and a Domme?

I've always thought that a Domme was just the female version of a male Dom, but I've seen others reference them as 2 different types of Dominant. Along the same line, I've always just used Mistress as a title to address someone, like Master, Miss or Ma'am. I know that Mommys are something specific but I don't know if any of the other terms refer to something similar.

Are there actually any differences between a Mistress and a Domme or any other form of a female dominant or is it just a personal preference kind of thing?
