Role play scenes for beginners?

My fiancé and I have been mostly vanilla together and in our pasts and are currently exploring bdsm and general kinky sex. The idea of role play is really hot but we both know it would feel too silly and we couldn’t take it serious. Any advice on scenes that don’t feel too cartoony (student needs an A, female cop tries to apprehend a suspect, milkman, etc) and maybe helped you to take role play more seriously?
