Do you have to get a fancy cane for caning?

I wanna ask my Dom to cane me next week, pretty sure he'll do it since he loves inflicting pain, he just doesn't have a cane I don't think. I remember when I was younger I found some light wooden sticks at Walmart, could I get something like that or do I need to spend the dough on a legit cane? Also what makes a good cane? What are the different types? I dunno anything about canes but I've heard they can draw blood and that sounds amazing so I wanna try.
