Kink compatibility vs romantic relationship incompatibility

I've noticed that I'd meet someone who's extremely compatible with me in terms of kinks but I soon find out that we're VERY incompatible in terms of values, personalities, interests etc so the prospect of a romantic relationship is out the window. I even had a sub who would say wildly racist and bigoted things to me about other people but treated me very nicely so that was perplexing at best (that fling obviously didn't last long).
I was curious if anyone else has had a similar experience as well?
