At a munch recently, which I was attending with my regular play partner, I was chatting to a group. One woman asked me “so, are you experienced in the lifestyle?” I answered “yes” and she drew her self up tall and said “speak appropriately when you address a Goddess.”
I’m a dom — except with a very few select partners — so I simply replied “I respect you as an equal; please don’t talk to me like I’m your inferior.” She told me I was very rude and walked off.
The group she was with said that I should have been more polite, but as far as I was concerned I was at munch, I didn’t know whether she was a sub or domme (she was wearing slacks and a t-shirt; no hints given).
My partner and I left shortly after as the interaction with the group kinda soured things for both of us.
Did I react improperly here or am I massively overthinking things?
