Is there a place for a mentally ill male in bdsm?
Post Body

Hi. As a mentally ill male diagnosed since age 12 with major depressive disorder and schizoafective disorder depressive type with a history of reactive attachment disorder I have a question. Is it possible to incorporate kinks that stem from my personal experience growing up and living with my mental illness into a bdsm lifestyle? I feel like there is definitely a place in the bdsm community for kinks as I've seen countless posts and comments here talking about and praising them. But how do you think mental illness plays a part in a bdsm lifestyle or relationship? Personally I feel like my mindset and experience with depression and schizoafective disorder allows me to explore the worshipping/slave type dynamic that I see being expressed by other males on here that I too wish to participate in. But I'm sincerely scared that because I may come off as "too intense" or an "incel" or just mentally ill that I may be shunned from the bdsm community. I've dreamed of being a worshiping slave to a female mistress since I was 9 years old. Am I wrong to assume that by being mentally ill I have no place in this community??
