How do I socialize at Munches?
Post Body

I have been going to a couple of munches over the course of last few years. I am hoping to make friends and potentially find a play partner. But almost every time I go to a munch I end up sitting alone staring at a wall. People around me are having active conversations and I find that I have nothing to contribute to.

I am an Indian male who has been living in the US for 8 years now. I have hobbies and interests like board games, video games, swimming, chess etc. I am financially very stable, have my own place without roommates and all. I have been to various countries in the past. I have a lot of interesting life experiences essentially that I can talk about.

But people I meet at these munches have extremely esoteric interests. And is also like 99% white. Once or twice I saw another non-white, non-Indian person at these munches. The guy next to me went to some witchcraft store and talked for 15 mins about some mug he bought there and the girl opposite to him went to the same store and bought a witch hat or something. They just kept on talking about that store. In situations like this I have absolutely nothing I can contribute to the conversation lol. I didn't even know that there is something called a witch store lol.

Usually I find a guy who I speak with for 15 mins. We manage to find some common ground. And typically this person just falls of the face of the earth never to be seen again :|
