How do I get blood?

I'm gonna fill up a few small, nigh-tiny vials with my blood as a gift to my doms. How do I get this blood? Where do I cut, how deep, how do I care for it? I already have a recipe to stop the coagulation, I suppose I could just start cutting somewhere but I've got the jitters!
