Sex after impact play

I've had limited impact play experience, hence my question (I'm sorry it sounds kinda stupid but just wanted to hear from those who are more experienced):
Given impact play can be really intense, would people engaging in it tend to have sex after an impact play scene, or would the play itself be the sexual activity?
