Bootblacking Question!

Recently I put together a bootblacking kit! I know it’s all body safe, except for Saphir Medaille D’Or black shoe shine. Based on the smell my instinct is that licking boots after this is put on might not be the best idea? I’m not sure though.
Would love insight on a good body safe polish (for mirror finish), or best practices from seasoned bootblacks. Thanks :3
