What are some things I can do to prepare for anal play?

The title pretty much says it all. I am arranging a session with a dom, and we both agreed that we would love to do some anal play, where I am on the recieving end. Only thing is, I've never done any anal play and I do not know what I can do to prepare. I want it to go smoothly, and want it to be as mess free as possible. What can I do to make that happen?
