Trying to plan out and adjust approaches for a potential online or partly online dynamic. Keen to navigate and avoid common mistakes in establishing a dynamic at a distance. I have read some of the existing advice here and will be doing research as well as discussing with the submissive in question.

I would appreciate any specific advice on what has worked well with you and your partner (d or s perspective equally valid!) but also what went less well and required a change or negotiation purely owning to the online aspect.

Noted a couple of thoughts , no particular order but just what came to mind...

Impacts/challenges on communication: I'm concerned that trust/connection especially will be harder to form and maintain over time, or suffer due to less frequent contact - thinking plenty calls, messages, voice and video clips will help - along with a commitment for physical meetups when possible.

Discipline/Instructions/Training: Im not exclusively a sadist, though I enjoy discipline and training, punishment and reward. There's some interesting possibilities for orgasm control but what about where you would normally use correction - swats/spanks etc not sure how best to manage that except in person.. or perhaps as a tally and settle up later..

Lastly keen to avoid the frustration (or anxiety) of either party during time lost waiting on messages recieved to be read/replied to..I am patient, but by no means saintly..and wouldn't want a sub left feeling neglected/punished unless intended.. set play times, key phrases, schedules etc will help but what else have you had success with...
