Is deeper or wider more safe for anal play?

I love anal play and stretching. Ive tried to stretch wide but it takes me a long time before i get pleasure and i cant gape to the size i want (i like extreme play). I thought id try rather going deep but i only have a very long chain of small beads. Would it be safe to try anal play by inserting these inside, or stick to shallow but wider stretching?
