Is adding nitrites a day into wet cure a bad idea?

I'm wet curing a small ham for the first time. The curing salt I ordered won't be here til late tomorrow and so I was wondering if I could get a jump on the curing today and add the pink salt to the brine tomorrow? Otherwise, I would start the cure tomorrow evening and have only 3 days for a wet cure.
Which option is more preferable?
